Nancy's Story

Nancy Pusateri’s “Rising Up” explores the haunting questions surrounding abusive behavior: what drives it, and how does one reconcile such actions? Drawing from her own harrowing experiences of childhood abuse at the hands of her father, Pusateri courageously shares her story, shedding light on the lasting emotional and physical toll. This book serves as a beacon for survivors, offering understanding and solidarity, while also providing insight for those fortunate enough to have not faced such darkness. It’s a reminder that everyone, regardless of past trauma, deserves love and support.

5.0 out of 5 stars Information not only for the abused, but a good warning for parents and grandparents!

It was well written using the facts without any trace of hatred, which was amazing considering the abuse
she had to endure. The story is shocking from the standpoint of how early her own father starting
grooming her and taking away her innocence. To be hurt by the very people you trust to protect you must be a betrayal of the worst kind.

It is not an easy book to read, let alone be brave enough to write. I know Nancy personally and was not aware of the extent or specific type of abuse. Knowing what a kind and sweet person she is made this especially shocking. It has taken her about 25 years to write this book.

After many attempts, she finally accomplished it desiring to help others. At the end of the book
are resources of different places to contact for help. I decided to share her book with a therapist I
know in the event it might be something she might want to share. She was most interested and we
both agreed about the importance of awareness.

Nancy is a beautiful, strong and very brave person. I am so proud of her and honored to be her friend.
